COVID 19 GUIDELINES

LEVITTOWN AMERICAN ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION; GREEN PHASE GUIDELINESLEVITTOWN 

Levittown American is pleased to welcome our neighbors to scrimmage and play games on our complexes during LA’s Green Phase. The use of our fields has been approved by our Township with the understanding that both LA teams and our guests will abide by the below guidelines. 

Failure to comply will result in the canceling of current or future games on the complex and/or the suspension of LA teams for the season.The safety and health of our families and those of our neighbors is the highest priority while providing an organized and structured use of our facilities.

NON-LA TEAMS
Must submit their team or league guidelines currently being enforced for their team to the Manager of the LA team they intend to play. These guidelines must be provided by email prior to the start of the game.Opposing teams will notify LA if any member of their team has been exposed to or tested positive for COVID-19 in the preceding two weeks.

LA MANAGERS/TEAMS
LA managers will provide a copy of the approved LA Green Phase Guidelines to the opposing team by email prior to the scheduled game.

ON-FIELD GUIDELINES

Personal Protective EquipmentEach player, manager, coach and score keeper must have a face covering in their possession.

Players are not required to wear face coverings while on the field of play.

Players will be permitted to wear a face covering on the field if directed by a medical provider orindividual determination of the player/parent/guardian/caretaker.

Coaches are required to wear face coverings while inside the dugout with players. Facecoverings are also required during player instruction when social distancing is not possible (example: Visits to the mound).DugoutsDugouts will be extended to limit the number of players (3) and coaches (1 Manager, 2 coaches and 1 score keeper) in the dugout.

All remaining players will be seated on the bleachers outside of each corresponding dugout.

No personal player bat bags/equipment bags will be allowed in the dugout and player equipment will be required to be spaced out accordingly outside the dugout to prevent direct contact.

Managers and coaches will be assigned a space in the dugout and will be spaced six feet apart.

Player Equipment

No personal player equipment bags will be allowed in the dugout. 

Players will continue to use the preassigned spaces outside of the dugout for their equipment to avoid contact with other players.

Players will be required to use their own individual batter’s helmet, glove, bat and catcher’s equipment.Players must disinfect equipment prior to and after each practice and game. 

Baseballs and softballs

Baseballs and softballs will be rotated on a regular basis to limit individual contact.

Spectators will be prohibited from retrieving foul balls but can be retrieved by participatingplayers and coaches.

Umpires will limit contact with the ball and catchers should retrieve foul and passed balls wherepossible. 

Drinks and Snacks

Players, coaches, and volunteers must bring their own personal drinks to all practices and games.

Sunflower seeds, gum and other food will not be allowed in the dugout or on the playing field.

Game and Rule Changes

Pre-game plate meetings will be limited to one coach from each team and all participants must wear face coverings 

UmpiresUmpires will be encouraged to keep a safe distance from players as much as possible and will be permitted to call balls and strikes from the pitcher’s mound.

SPECTATOR GUIDELINESS

pectators will be required to bring their own seating; use of bleachers is not allowed. This is where players will be sitting.

Families are encouraged to limit the number of family members in attendance.

We encourage spectators to sit in the outfield away from the bleacher area.

We encourage spectators to wear face coverings when moving throughout the complex andsocial distancing is not possible.

A spectator with any of the following conditions should not attend a practice or game until evaluated by a medical provider and given clearance to do so:

Active COVID-19 infection
Known direct contact with an individual testing positive for COVID-19
Fever
Cough

Those at higher risk for severe disease should consider consultation with their medical provider before attending a game and should ensure the strictest adherence to guidelines regarding face coverings, distancing, and handwashing.

OTHER GUIDELINES

Temperature Screenings - All players and coaches from both LA and non- LA teams are required to be screened prior to the start of practice and games including a temperature reading and check for other systems. No player or coach will be allowed to participate in practice or game or remain at the field with any symptoms. Players and coaches should not participate in any practice or game if any member of his/her family is experiencing flu-like symptoms or cough, shortness of breath, headache, runny nose, loss of taste or smell, diarrhea or fever.

Hand Hygiene - All players, coaches and volunteers must wash or sanitize their hands before and after practices and games.

Sanitizing Equipment – All equipment must be washed or sanitize before and after practices and games.

LA will have a zero-tolerance policy for coaches, volunteers, parents and players who do not adhere to these guidelines. Non-LA Teams who do not follow LA approved guidelines will not be permitted back on our complex nor will LA teams be permitted to play in games on their complexes.

PROCEDURES FOR A POSITIVE TEST

Any participant that tests positive or has been exposed to someone with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 must notify Levittown American.

If any player, coach, volunteer or umpire tests positive for COVID-19 they must stay home until released by the Health Department.

Additional measures, as provided by the CDC, will be followed including immediately separating any individual with symptoms or exposure and instructing them to follow the CDC guidance for caring for oneself and others who are sick.

In accordance with state and local privacy laws and regulations, we will notify local health officials including the Bucks County Department of Health, other LA board members and families immediately of any case of COVID-19 while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the ADA and other applicable laws and regulations. LA will also advise those who have had close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19 to stay home and self-monitor for symptoms.
